Overview
Mangrove Carbon™ is designed to provide digital infrastructure for financing, monitoring, and communicating coastal ecosystem restoration.
The platform enables users to estimate travel-related emissions, discover restoration initiatives, make voluntary contributions, and monitor environmental and social impact through interactive dashboards, GIS mapping and digital reporting.
It is designed as restoration financing infrastructure rather than a carbon credit marketplace, while remaining compatible with future certified blue carbon projects.
The Problem
Tourism contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, while coastal ecosystems face increasing pressure from degradation, urbanization and climate change.
At the same time, coastal communities often have the knowledge and capacity to restore these ecosystems but lack sustainable financing mechanisms.
Existing environmental contribution platforms can also provide limited transparency into how contributions are used and what impact they create.
Mangrove Carbon™ addresses this gap by bringing carbon estimation, digital contributions, community reporting and restoration monitoring together within one platform.
The Solution
Mangrove Carbon™ creates a digital connection between tourism, climate action, restoration financing and community-led conservation.
The platform enables users and organizations to:
- Estimate travel-related emissions
- Discover restoration projects
- Support restoration activities
- Manage restoration data
- Monitor project progress
- Measure environmental and social outcomes
- Communicate measurable impact
How the System Works
Mangrove Carbon™ operates as an integrated digital workflow that connects restoration financing, field data collection, geospatial monitoring, and impact reporting into a single system. It ensures that every restoration activity is captured, verified, and translated into structured, location-based data that can be tracked and reported over time.
Carbon Footprint Estimation
Users enter travel information including flights, accommodation, transport, marine activities, and other tourism-related activities.
The platform estimates travel-related emissions and provides a recommended voluntary contribution.
Restoration Project Discovery
Users can explore restoration projects through an interactive map and access information about project locations, restoration areas, implementing partners, species, funding progress, milestones, and expected environmental outcomes.
Digital Contributions
Users select a restoration project and make a contribution through supported digital payment methods.
Restoration Activity Management
Contributions support approved restoration activities including nursery operations, seedling production, planting, maintenance, monitoring and community training.
Digital Monitoring
Restoration teams record activities, locations, photographs and progress through digital field tools.
Project managers can monitor restoration using GIS, satellite imagery, drone imagery where available, and field reports.
Impact Tracking
The platform consolidates restoration information into dashboards and reports that allow users and organizations to monitor project progress and measurable environmental and social outcomes.
